Middle Frisco - #801

Trailhead is on the left at the creek, just past the animal rehab center. To begin the hike cross the creek on the foot bridge. This is a gentle, easy hike along the creek. Go as far as you want or as long as you like and return on the same trail.

Big Meadows

From South Fork go west on Highway 160 to the Big Meadows access road, FDR #410, then for 1 1/2 miles to Big Meadows. Park at the boat dock area. The trailhead is next to the toilets. The trail goes around the lake. At the upper end of the lake, Archuleta Trail continues toward the west, but you want to turn left and continue around the lake. Come back over the spillway to return to your car. This is a good, easy, fairly short hike.

Demanding hike up to 12,400 ft. elevation.

Trail begins above the road on the right. Follow the trail 1/2 mile to the top of the pass where it intersects with Continental Divide Trail #813. Go right on the CDT for about 3 miles to Silver Pass Trail sign. Bushwhack to the right (north) about 1/4 mile to the road. Hike up the road to reach cars; or spot a car at the hairpin turn at Silver Pass, saving yourself about a mile walk. This is a beautiful hike, especially in the fall with the changing Aspen.

Go up the hill and follow the fire lane for about 3/4 of a mile and then follow the blazed tree trail signs for another 1/4 mile to the lake.
