A message from our Club President, George Powell
The Silver Thread Outdoor Recreation Club of the
San Luis Valley is made up of people of the
San Luis Valley who enjoy the outdoors. Our commitment
is simply to have fun and to preserve the multi-use of our magnificent outdoors.
We believe that all users should have access to the splendor of the outdoors.
Our club supports other groups in their endeavors to receive grants and even
with labor to complete their projects. Our desire is to increase the amount we
are able to do.
Our ATV group cleans and maintains the trails on USFS land and BLM land throughout the year. In
the winter we use our Tucker
Sno-Cat Groomer to maintain the
snowmobile trails. We also work with the USFS to preserve and improve
the access and use of the forests.
We enjoy ATV's, horseback riding,
camping, hiking, rock climbing,
snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, skiing, motorcycling, and
simply the pleasure of our members company. We have many organized
activities to acquaint people with
responsible use of the outdoors.
Our club meetings
are held on the third Tuesday of each month at the South Fork
Community Center with a potluck supper at 6:30 pm and our business meeting at
7:00 pm. We welcome people throughout the San Luis Valley, visitors
and their guests to join with us in enjoying the great outdoors. |
