Welcome to our homepage!

The San Luis valley is located in Southern Colorado high up in the beautiful Rocky Mountains! Our club members are comprised of avid Outdoor Adventurers and Environmental Activists. We came together as a group to create an environment where we can enjoy our magnificent surroundings and work together to  preserve and protect this incredible area.

A message from our Club President, Bill Longfellow

The Silver Thread Outdoor Recreation Club of the San Luis Valley is comprised of people of the San Luis Valley who enjoy outdoor activities.  Our purpose is to preserve the multi-use of our magnificent outdoors, have fun, develop friendships and support others in responsible use of the wilderness

We enjoy ATV riding, camping, hiking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, fishing, hunting, skiing, motorcycling, and simply the pleasure of our members company. We have many organized activities to acquaint people with being accountable for use of the outdoors.

Our ATV group clears and maintains motorized trails on USFS and BLM land. Our hiking group clears and maintains hiking trails throughout the summer.  In the winter we use our PistonBully Sno-Cat Groomer to maintain snowmobile trails. Our club also works with the USFS to preserve and improve access to public land and to promote responsible use of the forests.

Our club meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month with a potluck supper at 6:30 pm and a business meeting at 7:00 pm. We welcome people throughout the San Luis Valley, visitors and their guests to join with us.
