Home of Ron and Ann Heersink

Club Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President George Powell at 7:15 pm at the home of Ron and Ann Heersink after a Mexican dinner spearheaded by Harolena.

George welcomed everyone, 32 members present, 6 guests..

George asked if everyone had a chance to read the corrected May club minutes which were amended to include the CSA report. Motion was made and seconded to accept the corrected minutes. Motion carried.

Financial Report: Bill gave the financial report in Lloyd’s absence. After the purchase of the new- used truck (with which to better tow the groomer) and the receipt of the monies from the sale of the old truck as well as the receipt of the grant award , we are now in very reasonably good financial shape. The club thanks George and all who assisted him in writing a winning grant proposal, which is no small feat.

President’s Report: The club’s “new” truck is a 2001, one- ton, 7.3 liter diesel, extended cab, flat bed, with 104,000 miles. There will be some repairs needed but the monies are available in our account since we paid less for the vehicle than what was actually budgeted.

ATV Ride Report: Today’s ride on Tewksbury (rough as could be) saw 18 ATV machines, and one motor cycle ridden by Jim Ryan now forever known as “Motor Cycle Man.” Go, Jim and welcome to the Silverthreaders!

Hiking Report: Dennis reported 23 hikers on Cathedral today. They wanted to hike No Name Creek but the water was too high. The group now meets at the Visitor’s Center instead of the Community Building, still at 9:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays. Bring lunch, water and a friend.

Fishing Report: Roy reports there will be a fishing/ camp out trip (whatever you can carry on your ATV) at  Ruby Lake sometime in July. Emails will be sent out.

Social Report: The club thanked Harolena for the delicious Mexican entre’ for tonight’s dinner.

Old Business: The Blue Peak’s Fishing Day will be Friday 6/20. Meet at the Visitor’s Center at 9:00 AM. We will need cooks to serve hot dogs and fishermen to help the residents fish.

The South Fork Children’s Fishing Derby will start at 10:00 AM at the same place. Again, cooks will be needed for serving 100- 200 hotdogs to kids and their parents.

New Business: It was voted by the membership for our club to again participate in the 4th of July Parade in South Fork. Decorate your machine and come join the fun!

Elizabeth, one of our tireless fund raisers, reminds everyone of our annual Potato Bake at the Community Center on July 10, to coincide with the South Fork Kitchen Tour. Set up at the center will be at 4:00 PM and the actual potato bake from 5-8:00. Elizabeth passed out sign up sheets for volunteers to make brownies, chili, cheese-broccoli sauce, etc. Also we need servers in shifts. We may be able to use the 2 huge ovens at the fire department to bake the potatoes.

Helping Hand Award: This will be awarded at the July meeting. Please get your nominations to Connie or Roy.

Meeting adjourned at 7:50.

Respectfully submitted,
