South Fork Community Building

Club minutes

The meeting was called to order by President George Powell at 7:06 pm at the South Fork Community Building after a pot luck dinner.

George welcomed everyone, 29 club members present, 2 guests.

George asked if everyone had a chance to read the November club minutes. Motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes. Motion carried.

Financial Report: Lloyd gave the Treasurer’s report. We currently have a positive balance in our checking and money market accounts. We had substantial income in December, 2007, but that was offset by significant expenses (ie: the new drag, insurance and fuel.) Motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurer’s report, motion carried.

President’s Report: George reminded members to take extra precautions when driving on icy roads. He and Harolena drove home from Montrose with the new drag for the snow cat on a road reported to have "icy patches." In fact, the road was almost solid ice. So, club members, be very careful when you are out and about this winter.

Grooming Report: George reported the club has billed for 48 hours of grooming so far this year, that is $4800 at $100 per hour. Sonny Hiett and Joe Degrado also serve as groomers. The new drag is a big help in this capacity.

Snow Mobile Report: Dwayne Powers will lead the Thursday ride this week, probably up Fox Mountain. Last week there were 4 riders. Meet at the visitors’ center at 9:00 am

Snow Shoe Report: Gail Longfellow reported that 11 club members participated on Monday in trekking the boulder field off County Road 20. Scenery was spectacular, the fellowship even better, the weather down right frigid. After this coming Monday’s moon light snow shoe starting about 4:30 pm, weekly treks will start at the community building at 10:00 am Mondays.

Social Report: Harolena thanked everyone who helped with the Christmas party. Since the club was not able to host the cancelled community pot luck in December, we will host the March gathering at the community building. She also talked to Le Shepherd who was discharged from the hospital after being admitted for a severely pinched nerve. Get well cards will be appreciated.

Sales Report: Barbara Thiesfeld reports there are jackets and shirts and hats for sale. Tommy Goetz is now stocking the blue club jackets and can have them monogrammed in about a week.

Old Business: George and Harolena, winners of last quarter’s Helping Hand Award, have asked Royce Baugh and Gail Longfellow to serve on the committee to choose next quarter’s recipient. Please get your nominations in to these folks as soon as possible.

George and Harolena picked up the new drag in Montrose. It did later require some modification of hoses, and it is being used now for grooming.

New Business: Elizabeth Baugh, chairman of the elections committee, nominated Joe Degrado to serve as the third director on the board for this term. Motion was made and seconded to accept the nomination. Motion carried.

Fickle Finger of Fate: This coveted award still resides with Philip and Sally Towns, but they are actively scouting club activities now and hope to find a new victim on whom to foist this trophy very soon.

50/ 50: LeRoy Schurr won and donated his half back to the club.

Meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Sally Towns
