South fork Community Building
Club minutes
The meeting was called to order by President George Powell at 7:15 pm at the South Fork Community Building after a pot luck dinner.
George welcomed everyone, 28 club members present, 5 guests.
George asked if everyone had a chance to read the August club minutes. Motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes. Motion carried.
Financial Report: Bill Longfellow presented the Treasurer’s report for August. The down payment of $1500.00 on the new trailer is reflected in the report. Motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurer’s report, motion carried.
President’s Report: George reported the club was not chosen to receive the recent CSA grant award. However, another $250,000 will be available with a 11/15/07 deadline for the application. The club will reapply at that time. The question now is whether to apply for funds for a new truck or for a second drag that could be left at a far site and thereby reduces the distance needed for towing.
We need to have a work day to collect trash along Hwy 160 before the first snow. This work day is scheduled for Saturday October 13.
ATV Report: Harry Fluke reported the dozen or so riders had a short but good trip Monday. Fun was had by all. Please join in the ATVing at 9:00 at the Visitors’ Center, this coming week on Tuesday.
Hiking Report: Connie reported the 16 hikers on Tuesday had fun hiking along the railroad track, but it was not the most stellar choice for a hike in that hiking on rail road ties is tricky business and precludes looking around at the scenery. However, lunch at Blue Creek was great fun and was delicious. She invites all hikers to join in for the exercise, fun and fellowship next Tuesday at 9:00, meeting at the Community Center.
Social Report: Harolena has picked out a likely Christmas tree for the Community Building and will be soliciting help from club members when it’s time for decorating. The club Christmas party will be December 15 at the Community Building. It is time to again clean the community kitchen, which allows the club to meet in the building free of charge. This clean up will be on September 26 at 9:00, and if there are enough cleaners, it only takes about an hour.
Sales and Fund Raising Report: Connie reported we now have a profit of $2,195.78 from the sale of quilt raffle tickets. The quilt will be displayed and tickets will be for sale at the South Fork Chili Cook Off October 19, and also at a function in Lake City.
Old Business: As stated in the Treasurer’s report, the down payment of $1500.00 on the new trailer for the snow cat has been made. The remaining balance will be $4800.00.
New Business: Rex Blanco officially resigned as Treasurer at the board meeting on 9/5/07. Lloyd Thiesfeld was elected as treasurer to serve the remainder of Rex’s term. Lloyd had been Assistant Treasurer under Rex. We greatly appreciate that Bill Longfellow has agreed to be Assistant Treasurer. Bill Longfellow was elected as director to serve the remainder of Lloyd’s term.
50/ 50: Lester and Karen Wells won and donated their half back to the club.
Meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Sally Towns
