Masonic Park Pavilion
Club minutes
The meeting was called to order by President George Powell at 7:20 pm at the Masonic Park Pavilion after a great fajita dinner ala Rex.
George welcomed everyone, 56 club members present, 2 forest service officers and 3 guests.
George asked if everyone had a chance to read the June club minutes. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes, motion carried.
Financial Report: Rex presented the current report. He states our financial picture is improving all the time with hard work by club members participating in fund raising activities. Both the Blue Peaks Fishing Derby and the South Fork Fishing Derby came in under budget. There were 3 new members last month paying a total of $75.00 in dues. The money raised so far in the quilt raffle will be reported next month. A motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurer’s report, motion carried.
President’s Report: George reports the club members have completed 731 man hours assisting the forest service by clearing ATV trails.
ATV Report: George reports there were 28 ATVs, 30 riders that rode to Hart Lake and Carson. The group was just too big. We will try having the same ride on Monday and again on Thursday in order to facilitate smaller groups. There will be a work day soon to retrieve snow mobile poles and also for trash pick up on Pool Table Mountain.
Hiking Report: Dennis reports 10 to 22 hikers on recent treks. This week they hiked on Elwood Pass to the Crater Lake overlook, about 8 miles all together and up to 12,000 feet. Next week will be to Hope Creek. Meet at the community building at 8:00 (in order to help avoid afternoon thunder storms.)
Social Report: Harolena invites everyone to a salad supper at the Powell’s home at 5:00 Saturday June 28 to say goodbye to Fred and Melinda Tagtmeier who will be moving back to Florida. Bring your favorite salad and come join in the fun.
Sales and Quilt Report: Elizabeth reports we have raised $1,535.00 in the quilt raffle. The potato bake netted $816.00. Barbara thanked the Goetz’s for their donation of potatoes for the event. The Jack Morris family has made a very generous donation to the Silver Threaders in memory of Mary Ann Morris. Barbara has Silver Threader hats, jackets, shirts for sale. The Goetz’s have donated the ATV and snow mobile hats, so money made from these sales is pure profit, and the club is appreciative. Tommy also embroiders tee shirts in her shop, and several were on display at the meeting. Dwayne had several state flags to give away that are displayed on poles on ATVs.
Old Business: The clearing of ATV trails for now is complete. Dennis Vincent of the Forest Service reports there will be another chain saw safety course on August 17; 6 slots are available to club members. There will also be an ATV safety course on August 10 with 7 slots available. On behalf of the forest service, Dennis thanks club members who have worked tirelessly to clear trails. There will be a dedication for the memorial plaque for Art Marcilla, and club members will be invited.
New Business: There will be an OHV Conference in Monte Vista on Saturday July 21. The club will be serving the meal. Dennis V. says he will attend.
FFOF Award: This will be presented next month.
Helping Hand Award: Rex chaired this quarter’s committee. The award was presented to Elizabeth Baugh for all her hard work for the club and in the community.
50/ 50: $37.00 was collected. Keith Johnson won and donated his half back to the club.
Meeting adjourned at 8:05pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Sally Towns
