CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 7.05 pm. Motion was made by Fred Tagtmeier to approve the minutes. Seconded by Dwayne Powers. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Rex Blanco gave the report, which indicated that because of the low snow year last year, and the resultant reduced payments for grooming trails, the bank account was not in good shape. In addition to the increased dues this year, members were asked to contribute extra if possible. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Fred Tagtmeier, and was seconded by Connie Gillespie. Motion carried
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: George Powell said he had received a call from Ronnie Day asking for the amount of hours the club had put in on trail maintenance for the USFS. The total hours amounted to 1,100 for the last year. 62 man hours have already been contributed since the beginning of October of this year. Many trees have been cut, but more clearing needs to be done.
Linda Cross, Rex Blanco, and Connie Gillespie are the committee to decide on the next Helping Hand Award recipient, who will be announced at the January meeting.
Raffle tickets are on sale for an ATV and snowmobile.
Cards for Nicki and Jay Becker, Jack Morris, and John Graeser were available for signatures. John was having problems, but was still scheduled to be released from Del Norte hospital on Wednesday.
Free state flags are still available to members.
HIKING REPORT: Connie Gillespie stated the hiking group has had a very successful month. Last week the hike was up to the tower above the golf course, and this week the group hiked to the Limekiln area. Interested hikers can meet at the Community Center at 9am on Tuesdays.
SOCIAL CHAIRMAN REPORT: Mary Shirk reported that she needed a minimum order for jackets, and several orders were received during the meeting.
CSA REPORT : The new CSA District Rep is Curtis Miller. The Trails Grant is due by Nov. 1st. The trail grooming reports have to start by Nov. 17th. There is a grooming seminar at Grand Junction on Dec. 2nd. It is now possible for businesses to get on the website. CSA gets $10 for each ad. There will be an avalanche seminar in Silverton in January. CSA is spearheading an effort to limit noise from motorized vehicles, before outside legislation is proposed. GPSing trails is supposed to be happening, but there are problems with the low speed necessary to do this, plus some of the trails are not identifiable in the summer. The sale of raffle tickets helps CSA, as they cover 60% of the cost of insurance for grooming.
OLD BUSINESS: Work days are needed on trails, especially 612 and 613. Since we have early snow, these may have to be done on sleds.
NEW BUSINESS: Dale Gomez has been communicating with club on the removal of the old docks at Tucker Ponds. New floating docks have been purchased, and will be installed next spring. The present walkway will be utilized to access the docks, and pipes to anchor the docks will have to be to be installed. They will be handicapped-accessible.
Connie Gillespie gave a short speech of thanks for her Helping Hand award.
George Powell reported that Nicki Becker was grateful for the expressions of support from the club, and he urged all the members to continue sending cards of encouragement.
