Club Minutes

Potluck served.

George called the meeting to order at 7:12 pm. Dwayne led the club in the pledge to the American Flag.

George asked if everyone had reviewed the minutes from the August club meeting, have copies if anyone need to review them. Fred Tagtmeier made a motion to accept the minutes, Sonny Hiett seconded the motion, motion carried.

George welcomed everyone present, 40 club members present.

Treasurers Report: Rex Blanco reviewed the expenses and income for the past month. He stated that he had made some insurance payments for various club activities. He reported that we are in the black because of the fundraisers held this summer. Dwayne Powers made a motion to accept his report, Fred T., seconded, motion carried.

President’s Report: George stated that Mac Hadaway, District 7 Rep for CSA is having some medical problems. Curt Miller would like to finish out his term and has asked for our club support. The Board of Directors has endorsed Curt for the position. George to notify the CSA board.

George expressed his thanks to Rex for a great job with Finances this year, also to Joe De Grado for his leadership for all the ATV activities and the safety tips. He expressed thanks to Harolena for her Social Director skills and organization. He expressed thanks to he Hiking group and all club members for their support with fundraising activities this year.

Hiking Report: Connie Gillispie reported that the group is still hiking, and will continue till it snows. Meet at Community Building on Tuesdays at 9:00 am.

ATV Report: Joe reported that plans to ride to Platoro and possibly on to Jasper Thursday, depending on the weather. He will probably only schedule one more ride for this season, because of hunting season and the weather. He expressed thanks to everyone who has ridden this year and hopes to see everyone next year.

Social Report: Harolena reported that had a good turnout for the Community Potluck last Tuesday. Thanks to all club members who helped decorate and set up. The table decorations were great. Thanks to everyone for all the hamburger and hot dog cookouts on the scheduled ATV rides this summer.

CSA Report: None- George stated that the Snow Show will be held in Denver Oct 7 & 8th. If you need more info, contact George.

Old Business: George reported that the Board had discussed the Helmet Policy issue for ATVs. The Board did not know how we, as a club, could enforce or police such a policy. He stated that the Board strongly recommends that every ATV rider wear a helmet. Joe suggested that all club members wear a helmet when on a scheduled club ride, but that guests would be permitted to ride without one. Much discussion followed. Dwayne suggested that we leave things as is and encourage everyone to wear a helmet. Dick Shaw suggested that everyone wear a helmet for Group support, as in comfort for the whole group of riders, as well as safety. Much discussion. Cindy Walter made a motion to accept the Board’s recommendation that everyone wear helmets on club scheduled rides, Fred T. seconded, motion carried.

New Business: George said the Board had a recommendation to raise club dues. The suggested dues would be $25.00 for a family, Business would be $30.00, with Snowmobile dues being $45.00 for a family and $60.00 for a Business. Connie Gillispie mad the motion to raise the dues as suggested, Terry Riddles seconded, motion carried.

George stated that we would have a highway clean up day on Saturday, September 23rd. Meet at the Visitor’s Center at 9:00 am.

Sonny Hiett suggested we post a description of the ATV that was stolen in the Ponderosa area recently on our Website.

Helping Hand Award: Sally Towns presented the Helping Hand Award to Connie Gillispie for the many things she does for the community and club members.

50/50 Drawing: Nicki Becker won the 50/50 drawing and donated her part to the club.

George stated that he had received a call from Betty Jefferson and she is doing better, she expressed her thanks for the cards and concerns directed to her. She stated that they hope to be able to attend future club meetings.

Dwayne made a motion to adjourn, motion seconded, motion carried, Meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
