Club Minutes
Frank Walter led the club members in the blessing for the Pot Luck meal.
George called the meeting to order at 7:20 pm. He extended a welcome to all club members and 3 special guests from the Forest Service. 29 club members present.
George asked if everyone had read the May club meeting minutes. A motion was made and seconded for approval, motion carried.
Financial Report: Rex reviewed expenses and income for the month, he stated that we had received the last grooming money for the season. He reported that we cleared almost $400.00 for the fundraiser Pancake Breakfast on June 18th. He stated that we had a good month, with income being greater than the expenses. Motion made and seconded to accept his report, motion carried.
President’s Report: George reported that Betty Jefferson is doing fair at this time, she is scheduled for major Chemo tomorrow. She will not be allowed visitor’s after this treatment, due to the immune system being very low. Cards to Betty would be a bright spot in her days. He read a Thank You note from the Jeffersons for the club support. Cards may be mailed to:

ATV Report: George reported that all ATV riders need to be extra careful when riding the trails and be aware of the trees and winds. There are a lot of Aspen trees falling because of the high winds. We have had some good rides this month. Joe and John have had good attendance for the scheduled rides. Roland will lead the ride on the 22nd and will go to the Wheeler Geological area.
Hiking Report: Dennis reported that are having good turn outs for Hiking. Have had several long and hard hikes the last couple of weeks. They plan to schedule an easy hike for next week. Meet at the Community Building and leave at 9:00 am on Tuesdays. He stressed to bring plenty of water.
Old Business: George asked Dennis to report on the Blue Peaks Fishing Outing scheduled for Friday, June 23rd at Tucker Ponds. He stated that there will be 18 people from Blue Peaks. He needs people to help with the fishing and cooking and serving lunch. Persons helping with fishing need to be there by 9:30 am, lunch will be served at noon. We need cookies or brownies for desert, these may be dropped off at Dennis’s or the Powell’s. Time is 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for the outing. Rex will cook lunch and needs 8 to 10 helpers.
George reported that he had visited with Josephine regarding the Kid’s Fishing Derby to be held June 24th at Tucker Ponds. Our club is providing lunch for everyone participating. We will serve lunch at 1:00 pm. Need helpers around 11:00 am. We need cookies and brownies for this also, please let George or Harolena know if you can provide cookies.
Le Shepherd reminded everyone it is time to clean the Community Building again. It was decided a work day will be July 5th, at 10:00 am. You need to bring your rubber gloves and any special cleaning supplies you want to use. Primary area will be the kitchen.
Rex reminded everyone we will have a Garage Sale August 4th and 5th. Donations may be taken to Rex’s house. He will need help 2 days prior with pricing and set up. Also having a Bake Sale at that time, need Baked Goods. He state we will have a Spaghetti Super Fundraiser on July 13th, mark your calendars and get ready to help. Time is 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
New Business: Dennis reported on a meeting he had attended regarding OHV use. He stated that someone attending the meeting with a presentation had used several pictures from various activities of our club. We need to keep our voices heard regarding these issues.
Ronnie Day from the USFS stated that they really appreciate all our assistance with Trail maintenance and help we provide to the Forest Service. He said we are a great club to work with and make their jobs easier and allows more trails to remain open. Art Marcilla from the USFS reported that they have over 800 miles of trails to maintain and their budget has been cut. They could not keep as many trails open as they do, without our assistance. He suggested that we make our voices heard regarding issues and laws about motorized use on the trails. Dennis Vincent, USFS, reported that he has more safety classes scheduled for Chain Saws and ATVs. Contact Lloyd Thiesfeld if interested.
Helping Hand Award: Frank Walter explained the requirements and process for nominating someone for the award. Cindy Walter cited the reason the new recipient was voted to receive the award. The award went to Dennis Shepherd for this quarter for a Hiking incident in the Red River area. The award will be presented again in September. The committee will be Dennis, Jay Becker and Sally Towns. All nominations for this quarter need to be sent to one of them.
FFOF: Jay Becker was not able to present this award as the recipient wasn’t present.
50/50: Rex Blanco won the drawing and donated it to the club. $16.00
