Club Minutes
O.V. Keith led the club members in the blessing for the Pot Luck meal.
George called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm. He welcomed all members and several guests. 21 club members and 3 guests present.
George asked if everyone had reviewed the minutes from the April meeting. He stated there were some spelling errors. Motion made and seconded for approval, motion carried.
Financial Report: Rex reported that had a good month with expenses being much less than income. He reviewed expenses and income. Motion made and seconded to accept the report. Motion carried.
President’s Report: George reported that he had reviewed the club By-Laws and that the Board is conducting business according to the rules. Dennis stated that the club By-Laws are not correct and we go by Robert’s Rules of Order. Discussion regarding the club membership vote on things can not be changed by the Board followed.
George reported that the Groomer will be stored for the summer, do not have a location yet. He reported that the Chain Saw Safety Course will be held in Creede and we have several club members signed up. He reported that Barbara and Lloyd have taken the ATV Safety Course and suggested that all club members riding ATVs should take the course. If interested in the course, need to talk to Lloyd. George will be sending an e-mail for a work day to retrieve the potties and snowmobile poles.
Hiking Report: Dennis reported that are having good participation for the Tuesday hikes. He stated that some hikes are easier than others. They had a special Hike day and went to the Wild River area, everyone enjoyed that. He may schedule a Moonlight Hike with a meal, if so, he will send an e-mail.
ATV Report: George reported that we have had several scheduled rides. Some of the trails have trees down and are running into snow and ice up higher. He stated that East Bear and Church creek are open. We need to have some work days to clear trails. Scheduled rides are Thursdays and leave from the Information Center at 9:00 am. John Graeser will lead some rides on Saturdays.
Social Report: The club will schedule a campout for June 2, 3 and 4th at Buffalo Pass Camp Ground. This will coincide with the trail clean up.
Sales Report: Barbara reported that the price of the jackets has gone up to the club, club members will now pay $30.00 for their part. All clothing orders need to be placed with her. She reminded club members that we need recipes for the cookbook. She requested that the recipes be typed and may be e-mailed to her or copied on paper for hand delivery.
Old Business: George reported that the Groomer loan payment has been made for this year.
He stated that the club received the Golden Broom Award for Town Beautification Day. The club members collected and turned in 30 bags of trash. Special thanks to Frank & Cindy, Lloyd & Barbara, Dick & Cherry, Dennis & Le, Rex, Darrell, Fred, Harolena & George for their work.
George reminded club members that nominations for the Helping Hand Award need to be turned in before the June meeting. The nomination should be written with an explanation. May turn in to Dick, Betty, Frank or Cindy.
George reported that we need items for the Garage Sale scheduled for the first weekend in August. Rex will store items till the sale, which will be at his house in Ponderosa. We will have a Bake Sale and Hot Dog & Coke sale at the same time. Will need items for that also.
George stated that he had turned in a report of hours donated for trail clean up and community service by club members totaling over 2000 hours for 2005. We donated monies to several different organizations and projects. Because of our financial situation we may not be able to make monetary contributions this year, but can still donate a lot of man hours to the Forest Service and Community.
New Business: George introduced Barbara Carpenter from the Back Country Horseman club. She explained about the trail clean up on Buffalo Pass scheduled for June 3rd. Their club designs and helps with trail maintenance. The trail to be cleaned is 10 miles long and is a multi use trail. It is part of the Colorado Trail. Scheduled to leave Buffalo Pass campground at 9:00 am, the Forest service will supply trash bags. Anyone interested needs to bring their lunch for the day and tools to work with. Their club will provide a steak meal with the fixings for those helping with the clean up. If interested in helping, please let George know ASAP.
George stated that he will be attending the CSA quarterly meeting in Leadville on May 20th. He hopes to learn more about the CSA insurance and membership requirements.
George stated that we will have an election for the offices of President, Secretary and 3 Board Directors later this year. If interested in running, let him know.
Dennis stated that the Blue Peaks Fishing Outing has been scheduled for June 9th. There was discussion regarding the date, as the Kids Fishing Derby is scheduled for June 24th and we usually have Blue Peaks the day before. Dennis will check on the dates. Dennis made a motion to increase the gas money donation to $125.00 this year. Motion didn’t make it. Le made a motion that we pass the hat and get donations for additional money for gas. Motion seconded and carried. Hat was passed and collected $37.00 for gas.
Dennis won the 50/50 and donated his part, $7.00, to the Blue Peaks gas fund.
Motion was made to adjourn, seconded and passed.
Meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
