Club Minutes
Spaghetti, salad, bread sticks and cookies served at 6:30 pm. O.V. Keith offered the blessing. George led the club in the pledge to the flag. 33 members present with Royce Baugh’s daughter and family as guests.
George called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm. He welcomed all members and guests.
George asked if everyone had read the February minutes. Dennis asked if correction had been made regarding his motion to accept Rex’s treasurer report. Correction had been made. Wayne Jefferson made a motion to accept minutes, Sonny Hiett seconded, motion carried.
President’s Report: George reported that we have 76 hours Grooming time left. He reported that the new groomer catches a lot of wind going down the highway. He plans to get grooming time in by April 15th.
George reported that the Spaghetti Supper held for a Fundraiser made some money. Turnout was not as good as expected, probably because of bad weather. He reported the club has had a busy month.
Financial Report: Rex reported we had received a check for Grooming hours turned in. He reviewed the month’s expenses and income. Eve Wells made a motion to accept the report, Fred Tagtmeier, seconded, motion carried.
Grooming Report: George reported that we are looking better in the Grooming department, only have 76 hours left to use. He is planning to groom tomorrow. George reminded everyone that the snow is right for avalanches now. He stressed the importance of being extra careful when out snowmobiling or doing snow activities.
Snowshoe Report: Dennis Shepherd reported they had a Moonlight Outing last week. It was well attended. Monday, Frank & Cindy Walter instructed a Snow Caving class. All present had a good time and learned a lot. They are still snowshoeing on Mondays.
Social Report: Harolena Powell reported that the Community Pot Luck sponsored by the club was a success. Le Shepherd stated that everyone really enjoyed the Luau theme and suggested we make it an annual event. Harolena stated that the snowmobile ride and sled races were lots of fun. Barbara Thiesfeld suggested making it an annual event. Dwayne Powers wanted to thank Barbara for the Picture Boards she has done for the Health Fair and that were displayed at the Spaghetti Supper, also thanks to Lloyd for making the picture DVD. Dennis reported on the upcoming Health Fair in Del Norte.
George thanked everyone who helped to make the Potluck and the Spaghetti Supper such a success. He thinks we would have had a better turn out for the Spaghetti Supper, had the weather been better.
New Business: George suggested that we have the club Christmas Party at the Rio Grande Club this year. Many people voiced keeping it as we have done in the past. Rex stated he would be willing to cook again this year. Much discussion followed. We will check in to available dates and cost for several different options and report at next meeting.
Barbara stated that the club would be doing a Cookbook for a fundraiser to come out in May 2007. She stated that we would like to have 300 recipes. She requested that club members start sending her or Elizabeth the recipes or bring them typed. Barbara reviewed the clothing items available and all clothing orders must go thru her.
Dennis stated that he had previously mentioned the club furnishing a meal for La Puente Homeless shelter before June. The meal needs to be hot. Dennis made a motion for the club to furnish a meal, Dwayne seconded. Dennis stated that he would furnish the food, if the club members would prepare it and take it to Alamosa. Dennis said he would co-ordinate the meal. Motion carried.
Jay Becker asked if the person receiving the FFOF award had to be present. Yes.
Connie Gillispie won the 50/50 drawing and donated her part to the club.
Dwayne made a motion to adjourn, motion seconded and carried.
Meeting adjourned at 8:04 pm.
