Club Minutes
Potluck was served at 6:30 pm. O.V. Keith offered the blessing for the food and club members. 35 club members present.
George called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm. George welcomed all members and a guest, Jim West, who is O.V.’s nephew. George noted that everyone seemed to be aware of the change in the club meeting date and the location.
George asked if everyone had reviewed the January minutes. Royce Baugh made a motion to accept the minutes, Dwayne Powers seconded, motion carried.
President’s Report: George reported that the yearly CSA Convention and Meeting will be in Craig this year, March 23rd – 26th. If anyone is going, please contact George, so they can vote for the club. There will be 4 Snowmobile Rides scheduled and they have lots of snow this year.
George reported that he and Roland Schwery groomed Blow Out on Monday. He stated that the new Groomer will move lots of snow and is working great. He reported that we have turned in for 50 hours Grooming so far, have a total allotment of 196 hours for the season.
George reported that he had a sheet to sign up to order Daffodils to Benefit Cancer, if anyone interested.
Treasurer’s Report: Rex reported that he has not received a check for Grooming hours turned in for this year. Rex reported on income and expenses for the month of February. Dennis questioned what the expenses were for. Rex stated that all expenses were for the Groomer and fuel for the truck. Dwayne made a motion that the report be approved, Dennis seconded, motion carried.
George reported that he had the ball moved forward on the GMC Pickup to make it better for pulling the Groomer and trailer. They now have more weight on the front axle.
Fundraising: Barbara has Snowmobile Caps, Club Flags, Knives or Utility Tools for sale. Need to get these sold. Also, jackets, vests and t-shirt orders will be accepted.
Social Report: Harolena reported that the club will host the March Pot Luck in South Fork on March 14th. Need help setting up at 10:00 am. They had a Moonlight Snowshoe outing at Cross Creek. Square dancing is on Fridays from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Community Building.
Snowshoe Report: Dennis stated that they are still snowshoeing, al though they have to drive and go up in the high country. He stated this is good exercise and a wonderful chance to commune with nature.
Snowmobile Report: George reported that we have made a few scheduled rides. Some of the club members rode with the Creede club last week. Had a 70 mile ride today to Blowout and around, it was a good ride. He is planning to groom Pool Table on Wednesday. Not sure where will ride on Saturday, but plan to ride. Meet at the Visitor’s Center at 9:00 am.
Grooming Report: George reported that the new groomer is great and works well with the drag. He stated that 2 people can work well together while grooming. He said the new blade will move a lot of snow and doesn’t slow the groomer down.
Old Business: Dennis stated that he is still checking on the use of the Community Building by non-profit groups and whether they can charge fees for use. Josephine is checking old documentation regarding the fees and use for the building. George stated that we will not have to pay for use of the building if our club agrees to clean the kitchen on a quarterly basis.
George reminded everyone that we are now picking up trash on the 2 miles going thru South Fork on 160. We are supposed to pick up once a quarter. Will probably pick up again in April, weather permitting.
New Business: George stated that he is working with Frank & Cindy on a new project for the club. This will be an award for something nice done for a club member by a club member. Hopes to have it ready for the April club meeting. He wants to add positive actions and thoughts to our club. Nomination Forms will be at each club meeting.
George stated that there will be a Health Fair in Del Norte on March 25th. He received a call from the County Health Nurse asking if we would have a booth. He suggested we have a picture or slide show presentation of all our activities. Dennis will co-ordinate the booth. Time is 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. If interested in helping, please contact Dennis. We need volunteers to work.
George reported that we will host a Spaghetti Supper on March 18th for a Fundraiser. Rex will co-ordinate the affair. Linda Cross volunteered to be Cookie Chairman. Need all club members to help out in lots of areas.
George also stated that we may try to help sponsor the Square Dance weekend activities with the Town of South Fork to be held in August. Dwayne has suggested we do the concessions. More later.
Rex requested that everyone fill out the Food Preference forms, so he can plan meals for our summer cookouts and meetings.
Dennis is requesting old Forest Road maps, if you have nay, please contact him.
FFOF Award: Harolena presented the award to Jay Becker for snowmobile incident.
50/50: Barbara Thiesfeld won the 50/50 contest and gave it to the club.
Wayne Jefferson made a motion to adjourn, Dwayne Powers, seconded. Meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm.
