Snow Scoop

Silverthread Outdoor Recreation Club

District 7

We have had some snow in the high mountains and are hoping for more soon. Think Snow!

We had a work day last week and put out poles, signs and markers on part of the trails on Pool Table. It was a good day for an ATV ride and lunch was great. We are planning for another workday this week to put out more of the same. So, we are getting prepared for the snow season.

George Powell reported that our new Snowcat is in Grand Junction and will be delivered to South Fork on November 16th. We are looking forward to the arrival of the new machine. Our groomers are really looking forward to the formal training for the new groomer. We will be ready to start as soon as the snow gets deep enough.

We are still having weekly hikes on Tuesdays, which will turn in to snowshoe outings when the snow gets here. We are planning to groom some new snowshoe and cross country ski trails this year. So, there’s a winter activity for everyone around here.

Our club meets the last Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm in Del Norte at the County Annex. Come join us if you are in the area, we would love to have you visit our meetings.

Think snow and hopefully next month we can talk about all the fun we are having on our snowmobiles.
