O.V. Keith led the club members in prayer, followed by Potluck dinner with Fajitas and all the trimmings. Special thanks to Rex Blanco for cooking the fajita meat and tortillas. A big appreciation to George & Harolena for hosting the meeting at their home. 40 club members and 2 guests attended.

George called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm. He led the club in the pledge to the U.S. flag.

George asked if all had read the minutes from the July meeting. Motion made and seconded to accept the minutes. Motion carried.

President’s Report: George reported that had a busy month. Weekly ATV rides, a Campout, Hiking. John Graeser has been leading Saturday Nature Rides.

George delivered the old Tucker Snow cat to Grand Junction and signed the papers for the new Piston Bully snow cat. He reported that we had received a $50,000.00 loan from an individual to match finds for the CSA Grant we received. He also stated that the club will probably be running a little short on cash for a couple of months, starting in December. Expect delivery of the new snow cat on or before Nov. 1st. He is requesting that all members pay their 2006 membership dues now or as soon as possible, to help with the financial situation. He stressed that we need to try to get some new members and business memberships.

ATV Report: Joe DeGrado reported that last month was eventful. He will not be leading rides for a while. He stressed the importance of being aware that Hunting Season has started and recommended riding the roads as much as possible and wear orange. He plans to be back leading rides for the color change. George reported they had a good ride last week over Stony, etc.

Hiking Report: Dennis Shepherd reported that still hiking on Tuesdays. Next week’s hike will be 9 miles long, but should be easy most of the way.

Social Director: Harolena Powell special thanks to Joe & Joyce DeGrado for hosting the June meeting and Rick Tucker for hosting the July meeting at Elk Creek Ranch. Starting in September, we will be meeting in Del Norte again.

Financial Report: Rex Blanco reported we still have money at this time, but haven’t paid for the new Snow cat yet. Thinking about having some Fundraisers. Possibly a Spaghetti or Fajita Dinner. If anyone has ideas, let Rex or George know. We are a 501C4 Tax Deductible organization.

Old Business:

Blue Peaks Outing: Roland Schwery reported that we will have a group from Blue Peaks on Sept. 9th for a Fishing Day at Tucker Ponds. Will follow the same agenda as last outing. All club members are invited to assist if they would like.

Community Pot Luck: Silverthread Club hosting the Community Pot Luck in South Fork on Sept. 13th. Need volunteers to meet at the Community Building at 10:00 AM to set up. Would like to have Door Prize donations. If you can donate a craft item or door prize, let Harolena know. Dwayne and Royce to cook bread. We will have a band for entertainment.

New Business:

Membership: George stressed again the importance of getting 2006 dues paid now and getting new members to join the club.

Election: George stated that he needed to appoint a committee for election of the Vice President and Treasurer, but didn’t believe he would, since Dwayne Powers and Rex Blanco are both willing to run and serve another 2 year term.

Other:

Barbara Thiesfeld reported that can still order club jackets and t-shirts. Still have banners.

Dwayne Powers reported that had a good ATV ride and very successful Trash Day. A good story covering the day was in the South Fork Tines, courtesy of George.

George reported that he has raffle tickets for COVCO for a drawing for an ATV to be given away in October. Cost is $2.00 per ticket.

FFOF Award: George presented the award to Edna Powers for an ATV incident.
